The Mission Statement of the Raging Grannies . . . and Their Friends of Westchester County
We are caring people of all ages who join to sing for social justice and
peace, the environment and democracy. We are politically alert and non-partisan.
We use song to protest and raise awareness of issues including liberty and economic betterment for all people, unity, sustainable development. Raging Grannies write their own material, setting political lyrics to familiar tunes.
We dress in granny hats and colorful flower power dresses and we sing wherever our voices can be heard. We are committed to raising consciousness about peace, raising the spirit of all who hear.
We choose our songs by consensus, intending to challenge assumptions. But we do not intend to offend with unkind humor or crude language. We expect to enjoy each rehearsal and performance. We want to increase awareness and raise the spirits of all who hear us.
