Some places we've sung

On June 22, 2008, we sang at The Clearwater Festival - The Great Hudson River Revival, along with the New York Metro gaggle of the Raging Grannies and Raging Grannies from Western Massachusetts, as we did last year. We were also joined by a visiting Raging Granny from Tennessee. We huddled under a canopy because rain was pouring down for most of the day. Nevertheless, our audience sang along.

All four gaggles are represented in the smaller photo [above, right] since the Granny with the orange collar belongs to both New York Metro and Westchester.

We sang at a Sustainability Fair to celebrate Earth Day on April 20, 2008.

Peter Callaway, the Co-chair of the  Green Sanctuary Committee of The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Briarcliff, Croton and Ossining, thanked us, writing:
"On behalf of the UU Fellowship of Briarcliff, Croton & Ossining I would like to thank you and The Raging Grannies for providing such strong support for our Sustainability Fair. Your singing was the highlight of the afternoon, it was entertaining, provocative, sparkling and first class, and it set the tone for a successful afternoon; I just wish we had been able to draw a bigger crowd for you. It is a great mission that you are leading and the way you deliver your message is both innovative and effective... you say the tough things but make it easier to listen to by your delivery. Bravo!!!"

The Fellowship Newsletter said:
In the sanctuary, the Raging Grannies, led by Sunny Audin [Armer], were probably the highlight of the day, with entertaining, provocative and high quality singing.

This event also made the local newspaper, The Gazette. For that article, click here.

:
We sang at the South Presbyterian Church in Dobbs Ferry (May 2007) at an exhibit of photos taken by one of our Grannies, Grace.

We protested Dick Cheney’s visit to West Point  in May 2007.

We sang for volunteers who worked for the 2006 Congressional campaign.

Pete Seeger played banjo for us and two other gaggles at Clearwater, June 17, 2007. You can see footage of this on the youtube.com. For more information click here.   We marched in the Summerfest parade in Croton-on-Hudson, June 2008.

At a public meeting of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission about the Indian Point nuclear power plant, we sang our September 2007 version of  Indian Point Must Go!

For today's version and more about Indian Point, click here.
We got lots of comments on our song on Indian Point.

From a local anti-nuclear activist:

"It may seem silly, but your humorous and entertaining contribution to the meeting probably did more to counterbalance all the paid-for supporters of Indian Point than any of the formal comments. And it was wonderful for the media. Your performance was the only time the entire room was completely hushed."

From another local anti-nuclear activist:

"I will send you the dates of the forthcoming meetings shortly. I hope that the Grannies can come to all of them. It was the best part of the evening."

We've sung in Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Ossining, Peekskill,  White Plains, Yorktown, and many other places in Westchester County, NY. Some of us have sung with other gaggles in Washington, D.C.; Amherst, Massachusetts; and New York City.

We sang for Entergy's flunkies once in 2007 and twice (so far) in 2008. For an update on Indian Point, click here.
